What an amazing experience I just had!!

On Friday, I was honored to receive an invitation from Jana at CK to come and share some of my work with a few of the editors. I felt both excited and, of course, nervous. I mean think about it. These are the men and women that spend their workday creating a beautiful scrapbooking magazine, and they were going to take time out of their busy day to look at my work. Really my work!!!

I spent several hours putting together my best scrapbooking and papercrafting work; and I also updated my resume. (I highly recommend keeping that updated, instead of, trying to recall things from years past. It's not as easy as it appears to be!)

My meeting was today at 1:15 p.m. Jana gave me a quick tour of the facilities. They have such a nice building that houses Creating Keepsakes, Simple Scrapbooks, and PaperCrafts. Then she took me to the conference room where she invited me to display my work. Then that wonderful woman pulled in almost every other editor on the editorial staff. Even Tracy took the time to come in and introduce herself. Those amazing people came in and gave me several minutes of their time to look at my work. They were kind and complimentary and extremely friendly.

I cannot thank Jana enough for that amazing opportunity! I feel so blessed to have met such talented people! This has been one of my biggest dreams, and it was fulfilled today.

Thank you, Jana and CK!!

Four months ago, my life drastically changed as my husband took a job in Utah. Although we are originally from Utah, I was a bit reluctant to return. We had been enjoying four beautiful years in Georgia, and I admit that I wasn't quite ready for that to end.

With all the changes required with a cross-country move, I am feeling the need for some changes in my personal and professional life.

Personally, I want to bring more organization to my life: a schedule. I also want to create and focus on realistic goals that will make both me and my family happier.

Professionally, I want to take my scrapbooking work in a new direction. I have two career paths that interesting me. One is to work more directly with a company as their Creative Director in assessing consumer preferences, designing products, and strengthening their product base. My second path would involve becoming a Creative Editor for a crafting magazine.

These goals will take more experience and definitely, more education; but I look forward to the growth of learning new skills. I thrive in a challenging educational environment, and I find a lot of joy in embracing new knowledge.

The purpose of this blog is to share my education and experience with others and to document my personal and professional growth as I work towards my goals.
