Sunburned!

Yep, it's true. I was only outside on the back steps for about an hour and a half, but I'm sunburned. Makes me happy to have pink cheeks and red arms. (Of course, that reveals the fact that I'm still very pasty white from our long winter. Hee, hee.) But I love it!!!

Just a couple of quick projects to post. Some of my favorite cards recently published in "Cards" Magazine. Love to incorporate stickers into cards with other embellishments:

The cupid sticker actually came with wings, but I cut them off and added vellum wings that I had pierced the edges of to create more texture. Love that little Cupid. He's too cute!! :)

Grrr! This little T-Rex needed a Jurassic Period in which to prowl so I made some grass and a tree. Guess he's going "green". ;)

And finally, a little card using an airplane die cut. I'm such a sucker for cute shapes. Lots of Karen Foster and Deja Views here. These lines worked so well together. :)

Hope you are well and feeling creative vibes today. :)

He Lives!

May this Easter Sunday be a testimony that the He lives and that someday my sweet boy Joseph will live again as well. This simple thought brings me much peace, and I look forward to the day when I may greet him in a warm embrace and live with him forever. Love to you and yours on this Sabbath day!
A Lighter Post

I'm sorry about the heavy post last time. I think as Joey's birthday and date of passing draw near I am feeling more and more emotional. I know that I haven't completed the grieving process completely, but I am working through my feelings. And sis, I'm sorry that you read my post on a day when you were already feeling emotional. You need to warn me so I can WARN YOU!! ;)

I'm doing pretty well today. Got a bit of a cold. I'm such a wimp when it comes to being sick. I just don't have the time to take off and be sick. LOL! Just want to rest and never can. I'm starting to realize that I may have sleep issues too. Does anyone else wake up about every hour (fully awake), do a toss and turn and then settle back in? What is wrong with me? (short list please, LOL!)

I just received some new Deja Views goodies in the mail yesterday. I wasn't expecting them either. I didn't even know about this new release, and it just makes me so VERY happy. It's called "Global Views" and has the most delicious papers, chipboard accents, journaling tags, gems, charms, paper lace (which I'm in LOVE with), and the list goes on. I feel so spoiled. It's all gorgeous.

You can't help but feel creative when things like this arrive on your doorstep. :) Here a few creations with the new goodies.

A layout for my youngest sis:

And two cards:

Perhaps you will feel inspired to travel (I've definitely got the bug on this beautiful, sunny day). :)

In My Dreams

I dreamed about Joey the other night. I was carrying him because he was sick. I could feel the weight of him. I could feel it so completely that I shifted his weight as he was heavy. He hugged me tighter to help me hold on better, and his spiky hair brushed up against my neck. I could feel it!! I hugged him tighter in response. It was the most real dream I ever remember having, and I needed it so much!

When Joey's cancer progressed at the end, his pain was so great that we could not touch him. We did not want to create more pain and make him more uncomfortable. Sometimes when we would help him stand, he would lean against us and we would gently stroke his back. Sometimes as we lead him down the hall to load him into the car for one of his radiation treatments, he would lean against us and we could wrap our arm around his shoulders to steady him. And I could still kiss him. I imagine that a lot--leaning in to kiss him on his bushy brown or the cheekbone up near his ear. Those are my special places to kiss him. I miss that so much!

But having that dream was a tender mercy I'm sure given to me so that I could remember the feel of him. You don't realize how much those little touches mean until you can't have them any more. I need them so much. I miss it so much.

I miss him so much. It's almost been a year, and I still find myself thinking that it's about time for him to come home now. I think I will always think that.
Spring Cleaning

Yes, there really is a touch of spring in the air today. I rode around town today with my windows down, left my jacket in the car, and braved sandals. Deliciously warm today. Sigh!

But with that touch of spring comes the urge to clean, and clean we did today. Good-bye grit and grime! Of course to the kids it was complete and total torture:

"I can't do things like you, Mom." Jimmy sobbed. (Yeah, that was over in two seconds.)

And Katelyn's response was "Saturday is the day Mom works us to death." (Glad to know my mommy abilities aren't falling short. LOL! Seriously! The more complaining the more I know I'm being a good mom. Hee, hee!)

For fun, I'll post a garland that I made for the Deja Views booth. Not the greatest picture, but I finished up and night and couldn't get the best photo of it. (I used my Cricut for those big letters.)

And here are some cards that I created using the Deja Views "Zach's Life" line. Such a cool line. Saw it at Archiver's today (along with a lot of new goodies that I'd really like to get my hands on).

And here are two more Deja Views cards using the "Vita Bella" line. Very sophisticated colors and patterns.

Here's hoping you are enjoying your Spring and not caught in the snow that has hit the Midwest and South. Snow in Texas?? Who knew!! (Maybe you should do some cleaning. LOL!)
Stamping Out the Cold

Do you like that clever title? Hee, hee. Yeah. It's cold again. ARG! (Does that sound frustrated enough for you?) It's dipped back down in the 40's just when we were starting to enjoy some mid-50's days. They were heaven and reminded me that we really don't remain in an eternal winter, because frankly it was beginning to feel like that.

Ok, on to the stamping. Here's my March projects for Inque Boutique. The first is an Easter card. You did realize that Easter is THIS MONTH! Yikes. Don't you hate budgeting into the grocery budget those little unexpected extras--like Easter? The Easter Bunny needs to get a move on in our house and start thinking "Easter baskets." I like to throw in a few little things like flip-flops, or new tights for my dd, or a small toy for each of them. Christmas wasn't that long ago, but it's a far off present-receiving holiday for my dd so I like to break the year up a bit with small things. (Of course, that's typically because Easter falls in APRIL!)

Here's the Easter card:

And this is a baby card because the first hints of Spring make me think of babies. Plus two girls in my cul-de-sac are expecting this year. Aaaah, makes me slightly baby hungry thinking of them holding new little munchkins. So here's to them:

And finally a layout. When I'm stamping for Inque Boutique, I really like to be cardstock driven (meaning cardstock is the majority of the layout). I don't know why exactly, but I do admire the beautiful work of the Stampin' Up artists and the Hero Arts designers. They are cardstock driven, and when I begin my projects I am too so it fits. I also think trying to create a card or layout with just cardstock, although challenging, helps keep the focus on the stamps. (Plus I've learned so much about stamping by doing it that way!!)

Note of warning: the photo is out of focus a bit. But I changed it to black and white because I love it anyway. If we didn't scrap those kinds of photos we'd often miss out on some very important memories. So here's to scrapping an "out-of-focus" photo or two today:
