EP TV Video: "So Happy Together" Mini Album

This past week I created another tutorial video for Echo Park Paper. In this video, I show you how to use journaling cards cut from the "Journaling Cards" patterned paper to create a mini album. Many of the Echo Park Paper collections feature this kind of patterned paper so you could easily recreate this idea using your favorite collection. In today's video I feature the "So Happy Together" collection.

Here is the mini album I created:

And here is the helpful tutorial video I created:

Finding Water Once Again

When we lived in Savannah, Georgia for four years we went as often as we could to the beach (and frankly not often enough). We loved the water. We realized then (my husband and I), that we need to be by the water. It brings us a great deal of happinesss. While I realize we'll likely never own beach-front property, we have been longing to get back to the water. Living at least a 12 hour drive from the nearest coast has not helped our desire to be near the water. It's so costly to drive to California any time we want to be by the water. We just can't do it.

Recently, however, my husband discovered a local beach just within an hours drive. It has white sand beaches, fairly warm water and is a lovely family lake. I think we might have discovered what we've been looking for all these years since moving from Georgia.

We spend last Friday here just enjoying one another's company.

James and Kate testing out the temperature of the water.

Using the truck as a wind block when the wind picked up and kept blowing away our paper plates and lawn chairs.

Yes. The beach actually had REAL sand. Oh the glory!

Brett and the kids renting a jet ski for the day while I read an entire book while leisurely lounging on the beach.

It was amazing, and we can't wait to go back! I may actually even give in and go camping--the first time in nearly 20 years of marriage. Crazy, right?! But to find something that was so wonderfully peaceful was exactly what we needed. I am already planning our next trip in my head. Perhaps even as I schedule this post we will be there on our first camping trip. Wish us well!

Looking for a New Class to Take?

It's almost time for my kids to head back to school. With them being in school all day, I'll have a little more free time. I might want to head back to class myself. Have you been looking for some creative mojo, something to spark your creativity once again? I have a few suggestions for you if you are and a little sneak peek at something I'm currently working on to help with that as well. I suggest taking a class. A class can include a tutorial video, an instructional PDF, or just step-by-step instructions for completing a project. Below I have a few suggestions on classes that just might appeal to you (be sure to check my blog sidebar for additional classes).

Class Suggestions:

Stamping: The Scrapbook Stamper's Workshop $25 (Me)

Are you looking to use all those stamps you've been collecting over the years? In this class I designed for 2Peas, I'll show you how to use background, alphabet, open design, closed design, and sentiment style stamps on your layouts. This class is geared to all levels of stampers, but I concentrate most on just using your stamps. This class includes 50 layouts, a 62 page PDF, five videos, and a private message board to ask questions. When you purchase the class you will have access to the class for as long as you want, so you can work at your own pace.

Mini Album: Divide & Conquer $12 (Lisa Truesell)

If you have the best intentions with mini albums – but not the best follow through – then it’s time to Divide and Conquer! Garden Girl Lisa Truesdell will walk you through the steps of using divided page protectors to turn a hodge podge of memorabilia and photos into a beautifully finished mini album.

Color Inspiration: Through the Kaleidescope $25 (Amy Heller)

Do you wish you could add more color to your scrapbooking projects? Have you ever wondered how to mix manufacturers' products and collections with ease?  Join Garden Girl Amy Heller as she teaches a color theory based workshop.

Travel Scrapbooking: Scrapbooking Family Vacations $25 (Nancy Damiano)

Relive the magical memories you’ve shared with loved ones as Garden Girl Nancy Damiano takes you on a creative journey documenting your family vacations. From America’s favorite theme parks, cruises, road trips to day trips – we’ve got you covered! (Note: This workshop covers domestic travel only – we’ll tackle Europe & the world in a future workshop.)
Creative Journaling Design: Out of the Box $12.99 (Me)

“Beyond the Box” is a fresh approach to journaling! We will focus on journaling design with a purpose. Going beyond the typical journaling block, this class helps you think “outside of the box” and create dynamic journaling design elements that support the look and feel of your layouts. We will create three layouts in which the journaling becomes a primary focal point of the page. Helpful hints and step-by-step instructions are included for each project. Additional ideas for journaling design are also included in the full color, instructional PDF to help eliminate your journaling block and spark your creativity! (This class was included in the True Scrap 3 event and is now available for individual purchase.)

Incorporating Flowers: Flower Frenzy $12.99 (Nic Howard)

Floral accents are the centre of so many scrapbook layouts these days, from cute little flowers to dazzling blooms; they add that little bit of gorgeous to every layout they adorn. Whether it’s using pre-made flowers or making your own little floral creations, Nic has long loved to include them on her pages. Join Nic as she reveals some of her favorite floral techniques, demonstrates several different ways to make homemade floral accents and then brings her ideas together in a project you’ll love. We’ll take a little inspiration, add a some easy step-by steps, include some gorgeous examples and bring it all together in a video presentation and handout that will have you inspired for months to come.

These are just a few classes you can take. You can find additional classes HERE at 2Peas. There are also several FREE videos you can watch that might help to spark your creativity. Check out all the videos offered at 2Peas HERE!

Watch for something new and fun coming from me in the next couple of weeks. I'm pretty excited about it. Here's a little sneak peek!

Pinned: Color Inspiration

Are you on Pinterest? Have you been pinning those lovely "color inspiration" pins I've seen all over the place? I love them because they easily inspire a color palette for scrapbooking or paper crafting. I thought it would be fun to take one of those pins and use it to create an "inspiration board" to make something with.
Here is the color inspiration that I chose:

I'm super digging that poppy color right now and I love how they paired it with a grey/brown color and soft blues. Using that color combination here is what I came up with for products that match. (You can click the photos to find the actual products if you desire.)
