Make It Meaningful Scrapbooking Process Video #21: Hello Sweet Girl

I have had so much fun this month going through my older photos looking for stories I haven't yet told. I was so happy to come across this sweet photo of my seventeen-year-old daughter, Katelyn when she was just a few months old. You can find more information about this layout HERE on 2Peas.

If you're looking for other process videos from me, you can find all of my 2Peas "Make It Meaningful" videos HERE in this Youtube playlist or HERE on 2Peas.

Here is a closer look at the layout:

On this layout I included themed baby items with other items that were soft pink and teal. I love how sweet it ended up. Below is the start-to-finish scrapbooking process video for this layout. You can watch HERE on the 2Peas Youtube channel or below:

Make It Meaningful Scrapbooking Process Video #20: Birthday

In last week's video I wanted to use a "heritage" birthday photo to capture a moment. See the red striped cheek on my son's face? That would be his Aunt Marci's doing: a big kiss for his birthday. Little details like his cousin Aaron in the background make this photo of my oldest son Joey on his 5th birthday extra sweet.

Birthday layouts don't have to be "vintage." You can use current items to tell this type of older story. I used some Crate Paper birthday elements; as well as, some other non-birthday themed items on this layout to help tell the story. You can find more information on this layout HERE on 2Peas.

Today is My Live Call with Lain Ehmann and CreativeLive!

Have you been watching the "Scrapbook Your Story" CreativeLive scrapbooking session with Lain Ehmann? It's completely FREE and has been FULL of information. Lain's approach to scrapbooking is story-based, which is right up my alley.

And that was just a few things in this day-long session. I was taking mental notes the entire day!

This interactive workshop includes a live chat room; as well as, in-studio guests. It's quite an amazing experience! I hope you'll consider joining.

Why is Scrapbooking Summer Memories So Much Easier?

Why is scrapbooking summer memories sometimes so much easier? If I had to compartmentalize the seasons that are easiest for me to document it would be summer first, and then Christmas. Frankly, for me it's because I take 8,000 more photos during those times each year. That gives me oodles more options for memories to record. Spring and fall get so crazy around here that months pass and I think, "Have I even taken a photo of us this month?" Thankfully I have, but it sometimes feels like those months pass more quickly than others where in the Summer and at Christmas I tend to savor the time a little better.

(Note to self: savor spring and fall a little more!)

I wanted to share three of my most recent layouts for Echo Park and Carta Bella with their May collection releases. The one above is from their new "Walking on Sunshine" collection, which is a fun summer/beach collection. You can see the entire collection HERE.

The layout above is from the "Ahoy There" collection from Carta Bella Paper. This one might be my favorite just because I've decorated my house in a beach/nautical theme and love the sophistication of the designs in this collection. Having it printed on textured paper also gives it a high-class style.

And finally this layout using the Echo Park Paper "We Are Family" collection shows that you can take a family photo in any season: summer or otherwise. This collection has lots of really cool icons, making it the perfect family-themed release.

So since summer is just around the corner, I plan to once again take a million photos that I can use throughout the year on my layouts. Perhaps it's because the sun shines a little brighter, it's finally warm enough to go outside, and who doesn't love lush, green grass in the background but any way you cut it summer is my favorite photo taking season!

Join Me on CreativeLive with Lain Ehmann: Scrapbook Story

We all have stories to tell. Stories on our past, stories from our children, stories of how we met our significant other, and stories that share our love with one another. Scrapbooking is ALL about the stories!

I am so excited for this brand NEW and FREE CreativeLive workshop on storytelling in your scrapbooks with the expert Lain Ehmann. Lain's approach to scrapbooking is approachable, fun, and rewarding. I will be joining her on May 20th for a small part of her workshop, so be sure to sign up HERE for your chance to attend this online event.

Watch Lain's video HERE or below for more on this exciting new workshop, which focuses on the storytelling of scrapbooking:

Here's the workshop description:

Scrapbooking is a powerful way to preserve memories, but the process can often feel like a time-consuming chore, rather than a chance to tell your unique story. If you’re unsure where to start or held back by your inner perfectionist, this two-day course will teach you everything you need to know about creating scrapbooks that fully, creatively document your authentic life.

Scrapbooking expert Lain Ehmann will help you understand how to focus on storytelling rather than perfection when you scrapbook. Lain will cover ways to discover your own motivations for memory-keeping and match those motivations with the scrapbooking process that works for you. You’ll learn about creating beautiful, meaningful layouts that you and your family will cherish. Lain will also cover alternative methods of scrapbooking -- from working with pre-made kits to preserving memories digitally and much more. By the end of this class, you'll love your layouts - and your memories - more.

Make It Meaningful Scrapbooking Process Video #18: Hello You

This month we're talking about Heritage in our 2Peas projects. So for my "Make It Meaningful" scrapbooking process video, I wanted to focus on something from my past. Imagine my delight when I rediscovered my very first journals. Filled with childish handwriting, simple but quirky drawings, and memories long forgotten I was excited to browse through them. To include them in my layout, I lay them onto white posterboard and took a photo of one journal open to my birthday long ago. I love that one of my gifts was "sandels."

You can find all of my videos HERE in this Youtube playlist or HERE on 2Peas. You can find all the details of this layout HERE at 2Peas if you want to read more about my process for creating the layout.

Make It Meaningful #18: Hello You

Here is a closer look at the layout:

You'll notice that while the subject of this layout is a heritage one, I used up-to-date and brightly colored papers. There is no reason why a page about the past has to have a vintage vibe. Determine what you think helps to better tell the story, and then  just enjoy the process! You can watch the video HERE on the 2Peas Youtube channel or below:

You can pretty much use anything when creating a layout dedicated to journals. But I thought a theme of days of the week, or an everyday approach would work best. So I searched the 2Peas store for some options. Below I've suggested a few items you can try, if you decide to recreate this layout!

Manual Die Cuts: The Return of a Hot Scrapbooking Trend

After 17+ years in the paper crafting industry, I've had the opportunity to watch trends come and go with both scrapbooking and paper crafting. I was excited to see at the Winter Craft and Hobby Association tradeshow that one of my favorite scrapbooking tools has returned with a vengeance: manual die cut tools.

In my work with Echo Park Paper and Carta Bella Paper, I've been working behind the scenes to consult on several new product lines. We've begun releasing NEW "Designer Dies," as well as, "Designer Stamps" and "Designer Die and Stamps." Here's a peek at just a few of the items, I've been working on. You can find all of the die cuts and other products HERE on the Echo Park Paper website:

I love a good tool, and these new dies are amazing. These thin, metal dies cut through up to two sheets of cardstock or patterned paper depending on the intricacy of the die shape.

If you love working with tools like die cuts, be sure to check out my workshop for Two Peas in a Bucket called "Tool School." This workshop has an entire chapter devoted to die cuts and includes a full-color PDF, two additional chapters of beautifully designed projects, and three instructional videos. This self-paced workshop is perfect for those looking to stretch their tools in new and creative ways.

Make It Meaningful Scrapbooking Proces Video #17: Delight

Have you had a chance to catch all of my "Make It Meaningful" scrapbooking videos through 2Peas yet? These scrapbook process videos start with a small one-on-one share from me to you, and then I proceed to complete a layout start to finish. You can find all of my videos HERE in this Youtube playlist or HERE on 2Peas.

This week I concentrated on learning how to "make it work" when creating a layout. We don't always love every layout that we create so I wanted to discuss how we can take something we've started and make it work better for us. You can find more on this layout HERE at 2Peas.
